The Blackbird, Fly 135 Twin Reflex.

Although I prefer my old medium format to this, the idea of using 35mm in a twin reflex camera is a great way to keep photography costs down. Did I mention that it's also INCREDIBLY GORGEOUS?! I'd like to give that turquoise one a home.

Quilting.

Over the past few months I've really had the desire to make another quilt. I have a lot of ideas for the pattern and construction but so far the only thing I know for sure is that I'm making it out of recycled fabrics which I've been collecting for years. I've decided to hold off on making it until the colder weather comes. Sitting in a hot apartment with loads of fabrics around me doesn't seem too plesant. And besdies, nothing sounds better to me than to be curled up in my great-grandma's chair, drinking some tea, and stitching away while the snow blows outside. Mmm. Yes.

I came across this quilt today, I think it's completely beautiful...

Bill Nye the Science Guy.

He has a new show on Planet Green called Stuff Happens. I'm so thrilled. Planet Green is great. Bill Nye is greater. I feel like I'm in 5th grade again.

Back to School.

I can already tell that I'm going to be one of those older women that goes back to school after her kids leave the nest. How do I know this? Because I haven't even been out of school for an entire year and I already want to go back. I'd much rather be learning and discovering new things instead of sitting in a cubicle all day doing work I'm not so fond of. And most of all I miss the community in our studios. Nothing makes me want to sit down and draw more than when I'm sitting down and drawing with a group of my peers. It's so inspiring and encouraging. Maybe I'll start taking off early one day a week to go to the studio and do just that. In the meantime, I'll continue to inspire myself using the internet and be frustrated that I can't go home immediately and start creating.

Lockets.

I've recently fallen in love with the idea of lockets. I adore the idea of keeping a photo of a loved one so close to you all the time. Being the sentimental person that I am, I appreciate these antique lockets even more so. I love the thought that these were all items that were treasured dearly by those who owned them years and years ago.

They're just all so beautiful.

The Octopus Project.

I've been listening to the Octopus Project almost constantly today. It makes me want to be back in California, driving through the massive redwood forests where we listened to that cd endlessly. That was complete happiness for me.

I'm loving the new Beck cd.

Stormy day at the beach: part two.

(It's only the second time I've used this camera after misplacing it for a couple years. The images didn't turn out how they were supposed to. Not a developing error, the negatives look bad too. I did a little cropping and mushing in Photoshop. I'm pleased anyways. Happy accidents.)

Fireworks.

The feast ended with a bang. Multiple bangs. And multiple Polaroids from my camera.

Afternoon nap.

I now know why cats like to find that little sunny spot to curl up in for an afternoon nap.

Turkey vs. T-rex

(Special thanks to Julia for mini T-rex.)

The Italians and their Frank Sinatra.

The feast is this weekend so Frankie is turned up a little louder than usual.

The size of grapefruits?

"There was a hail storm. It had been like 90 degrees outside, and all of a sudden it was hailing, and it was hailing like the size of grapefruits, thundering down on the cars below, and I thought, 'This is some crazy-ass weather. And this is the summer? I wonder what the winters are like here?' "

Colorstrology.

Two lovely friends of mine and I were out for after dinner coffee tonight when I happened upon this book sitting on a table:

The book, called Colorstrology, matches your birthday with a specific Pantone color and tells you how that particular color can affect you. I went to the website to get this readout of mine. The book was much more visually pleasing than the website although it's still pretty great.

(Funny how it matches my blog page colors...)

Vernon, FL.

Errol Morris later revealed that the old man also kept a possum in the same cage with that turtle.

Goodness, do I love documentary films.

So true.

"Looking through an artist's sketchbook is like seeing that artist naked"
-unknown.

Starting the day.

I would love to have this hanging by the front door of my first house. A good way to start the day. (The colors make me very happy as well.)

The weather this morning made me want to put on a scarf, listen to cold weather music, and take a walk. I hope it doesn't rain tomorrow so I can do such wonderful things. Also, let's add a mocha from Presti's to that equation.

Post-rain.

Storms like this make me love living in Cleveland.

My morning tea.

If someday I happen upon a large sum of money, I will purchase this teacup and use it for my morning tea.

We want this to be us.

Tornadoes.

Running away from a tornado is something that I've realized is a recurring element in my dreams. I had yet another one this past weekend which sparked my interest in researching the meaning behind it. They're so terrifying yet completely fascinating.
